Etech’s Online learning management system, Studywiz began with pilot projects for iPods in Edinburgh, Australia and the USA, to evaluate the potential of iPods to engage and stimulate students in learning.
Now they’ve extended it to the iPhone, to take advantage of the interactive and media-rich tools. For example, students can take tests, access real-time information, submit assignments or even join in blogging.
Meanwhile parents can snoop on their child’s performance by checking student reports and view their assignments from the iPhone.
Geoff Elwood, CEO of Etech Group says Studywiz worked on the iPod and it’s perfect for the iPhone. As you would expect.
“What’s really exciting is that the iPhone takes mobile learning to a whole new level because now students have full functionality and mobility of Studywiz from the palm of their hand. Studywiz is designed to integrate seamlessly with an iPod and now we have adapted the Studywiz interface so that it’s fully compatible with the iPhone - making it even easier for teachers, students and parents to interact with and use.”
Don’t know about you, but I’m still none the wiser.
However, they claim research into the use of mobile learning technologies in teaching and learning has found that mobile learning has a positive impact on student engagement and increases communication between teachers, students and parents.
Though don’t actually quote who the research was by, which is a bit of an academic no-no.
Studywiz is currently used in 16 countries around the world and is accredited by BECTA to supply its learning platform to 29,000 schools in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
