Vodafone welcomes mobile phone twits

Blame Tony Dennis

Don’t assume all the tweets you are following already are delivered to your handset/mobile device.

Fearless mobile phone pioneer Tony Dennis editor of the admirable Mobile Insight has spent three days trying to receive tweets from Twitter on an ordinary mobile phone using SMS/txt on Vodafone.
Poor bugger. He’ll never get those three days back. Still, it’s his decision. Who am I to judge?

But the good news is, he’s finally worked out how to do it.

Here’s an abridged version of instructions.
You have to positively turn on the tweets you want to follow. Don’t assume all the tweets you are following already are delivered to your handset/mobile device.
No new tweets will be delivered until you go into the 'Following' sections and make modifications.
Under the 'Following' section choose the  option 'Device updates' and switch the desired tweets On. (or off). Unless you do nothing arrives via SMS on your mobile phone.
Now you know. Simple when you know how, but where are the instructions? Without this info, you’ll never work it out.
Twitter and Vodafone: hang your heads in shame.
The frequently asked questions sections on your respective web sites are, in the words of Tony Dennis, FAQing useless.

Now, I want you both to go away, and think about what you’ve done.
