3 and UK see Monitise as a certain banker

People want mobile banking

There's a surge in demand for mobile banking, and Monitise is helping the mobile operators to service it

T-Mobile and 3 UK are now in a position to provide their customers with access to the latest mobile banking services thanks to a partnership with Monitise, the UK’s leading mobile money provider.

The operators will use Monitise’s mobile banking technology to enhance their service offers, enabling customers to register and receive bank balance alerts by text message.
T mobile phone users in the UK can access services via T-Mobile’s ‘web’n’walk’ and ‘T-Zones’ mobile portals. They can register for weekly alerts to receive text messages at a time of their choosing and be sent a message if their balance goes above or below a certain limit.
3 UK mobile phone users, who access the services via 3 UK’s ‘My 3’ portal, can additionally choose to download a secure mobile banking application that allows users to manage their bank accounts in real time with account balances and mini-statements.
This move comes as mobile phone operators recognise the growing importance of mobile banking to their customers, with the number of UK users doubling to two million in the past year.
In collaboration with financial institutions, operators can enable customers to set up text alerts that notify them when their salary arrives or when a bill has been paid.
“Mobile phone operators have a critical role to play in enabling people to use mobile money services," said Alastair Lukies, chief executive officer of Monitise.
"The number of people in the UK using mobile banking doubled to two million in the past year alone," he added. "We anticipate that more operators will get actively involved as they recognise the growing importance of mobile banking to their customers.”
