Russian Internet access revenue will exceed  $8.5bn by 2011 says PriceWaterhouseCooper, the consultant that never gets it wrong

A study predicts that the number of households in Russian with broadband Internet will reach 17.5 million by same date from 2.5 million in 2006.
Russia's annual household spending on Internet access should grow to $8.5 billion by 2011 from $3.6 billion last year, according to a study carried out by PricewaterhouseCoopers cited Friday in the business daily Vedomosti.

By 2011, the number of households with high-speed Internet will have grown to 17.5 million from 2.5 million households in 2006, the study said.

In 2006, vast majority of households with Internet access, or 11.5 million, used dial-up to connect. That number should decrease some by 2011, giving way to high-speed connection.

OAO Comstar United TeleSystems is Moscow's largest high-speed Internet provider.
